    On September 29, 2015, Journalists & Writers Foundation and Peace Islands Institute organized UNGA Conference 2015 by true collaboration and partnership of civil society organizations from around the world. The UNGA Conference 2015 gathered 300 representatives from more than 30 countries during the historic World Summit that adopted the Global Goals 2030.

    High-level representatives including UN Assistant Secretary-Generals, Ministers, First Ladies, representatives of business associations and private sector companies and members of NGOs presented their works and discussed how governments, private sector and civil society can collaborate to successfully implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

    Learning from MDG achievements and challenges and building on negotiation phase of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, the distinguished speakers presented recommendations on how to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Public-Private-Peoples Partnership was particularly highlighted as a model of collaboration the nations need to eradicate poverty, protect environment, empower women and girls, protect human rights and build peaceful and inclusive society.

    First-Ladies-of-Excellence-Awards

    First Ladies of Excellence Awards were presented to the First Ladies of Sierra Leone and The Gambia at the end of the four-panel conference. H.E. Sia Nyama Koromo addressed the audience about her contributions to education and health of women and girls. Excellency Koromo received the award from Ms. Pulchérie Simpson, President of the African Empowerment Council and a plaque from Mr. Huseyin Hurmali, VP of the Journalists and Writers Foundation.

    H.E. Fatou Lamin Faye, Minister of Education of The Gambia, also, spoke about the importance of women empowerment and education. Minister Faye briefed the audience about the good work that H.E. Zineb Yahya Jammeh does for women and girls in The Gambia. Minister Faye received the First Ladies of Excellence award on behalf of the First Lady of The Gambia from Mr. Falai Baldeh, Director of West African Development Society and a plaque from Mr. Mehmet Kilic, Director of the Center for Global Affairs at Peace Islands Institute.
